The water is circulated using a pump.  Think hydronic floor heat. Basically the same type of system.  Water is heated as it passes through the coil. Then it is piped to the area to be heated.  The heat radiates from the pipe to the area to be heated. the water returns to the stove to be heated again.

Crossed my mind too. But I think as long as the water keeps flowing, it will keep copper cool enough. Can't think of any type of antifreeze that would be fish safe for lines though? Maybe a bit of saltwater?

I like it!  It will be interesting to see how well the copper will survive in there.  I've heard that copper will degrade over time when heated like this.  Don't know if it's true or not!

Yes it is a heat exchanger. The pellet stove heats the water as it passes through the coil. The hot water passes through CPVC piping that runs through the fish tank, sump tank, and the grow beds, warming them.  The water does not mix with the AP water so the copper will not matter.

Is that a heat exchanger. Not sure but heard that copper will be harmful to fish. How does it work?
