Hello Raychel,

This is a 3inch PVC pipe and there is no media in the pipe, only on the net pots...that depends on what the seeds were started in. The pipe is a "poor man's" NFT setup :-)

God bless,

SAHIB,

In this picture what size is the pvc pipe and is there any media in the pipe or is there just water running through it?

Namaste Chandra,

Unfortunately I have not invested in a "flow meter" so my estimates are best guesses (using "time taken to fill bucket approach" & general observation). My DWC bed's are returning water back to the Koi Fish pond at the rate of just over 3 gpm  while the NFT's are just under that. I am finding that there is some minor sludge or sediment build up which I will need to clean periodically with a nylon wire brush. This is probably due to the fact that the NFT's are being fed by water that has only been filtered once and not passed through the  Swivel and Degassing filter chambers.

Naturally if I were to venture into a Commercial venture, I would have the required equipment to be more precise. At this stage, I am really happy with the results and just having a whole lot of fun :-)

Hope this helps :-)

Great system! Sahib could you tell me the flow rate of your NFT? Have you got the problem with your plant root system like having sludge or sediment surrounding the net pot? I really wanna know.
