If you put a reflective material around your growing area im told you can return alot of potentially wasted light about 15 - 20 increase of yield.. even if this isnt entirely true im sure it will at least concentrate the light you have on your focussed area (your 4x4) bed. Matt

Matt,

I am trying out two 90 Watt UFO LED lights. (Total of 180 Watts) for this 4'x4' bed. The bed isn't entirely full of plants yet so we'll have to see whether it will be sufficient for everything I intend to grow in this.

Hey again Meir nice pics mate, What wattage are the ufo's consuming mate and how many do you have per system?

Bob, I figured it's 180W total versus the 400W MH/SV but I think you have a point about the heat.

I'll soon be growing napa cabbage, chinese broccoli, choy sum, and lettuces, and they all prefer cooler temps anyway.

It's good to know these LED's can grow tomatoes.

I'm tending toward a Ceramic Metal Halide because I'd only use supplemental lighting in the Winter and the extra heat will be appreciated by the plants.  But I love the idea of LED's for their super efficient operation.  I'm guessing you are forced to garden in the dark
