Hum.  Well I admit that my chard actually did best in the mushroom compost.  I still have some doing well in aquaponics but it never turned into the 3 foot monsters like the stuff in the ground.

Yea the kale does get attacked by aphids (I just pick off the lower leaves that get infested and give em to the chickens then pick some nicer leaves to take in and make kale chips.)  So maybe not as appropriate to greenhouse commercial production.

I've got some luffa gourds taking off and they are supposed to love the heat from what I've been reading and perhaps mellons or another hot weater crop would be useful to you.  I know yardlong beans are great in the heat but they are another one that gets attacked by pests (again not a problem to me since the pests don't seem to wipe them out but it probably wouldn't work for commercial.)

got any cucumbers going, they are one that I've often had a problem with the caterpillars eating into them but in your greenhouse you might be able to keep the moths out and avoid the problem in the first place.

How bout nasturtiums?  I know those can fetch a good price if they will grow well for you.

Yeah, we were going to install a high pressure misting system, but not so sure what good it will do come July/August.  I think that might just be a period to just get through.  We are still doing decently well with some different summer crisp varieties, oakleafs and a heat tolerant buttercrisp.  The romaines and grand rapids varieties we have don't tolerate the heat well.  We have started some Kale and it is creeping along, but always seem to be very susceptible to pests.  Chard we have had no luck with at all.

Well by July/August we hopefully get the rains so it will probably be humidity more than temperature that becomes the real problem then.

Are there still any lettuces doing anything good for you?  I've still got some Kale and chard doing ok.  I'm gonna grow lots more of both those next year ans probably skip all cabbage.

So far, yes.  I don't know about July and August.

Nice, and are you able to keep it cool enough in there to keep them setting new fruit?

There is trellising that is hard to see in this picture.  They definitely require support.

Are these plants standing on their own without support?
