Yep, The vertical stand pipe has some holes drilled in it down near the elbow at the bottom so when the bed stops filling it will be able to drain.  The bottom 4 inches of water remain in he bed but since it is 24 inches deep that isn't a big deal.

I adjusted the holes so the bed will drain as fast as possible but still be able to fill in the 9 minutes that the pump runs so the size of the holes is relative to pump flow and timer setting.

Please explain how the grow beds drain.  I think there is a standpipe for overflow but also a drain at the bottom of the grow bed.   As I understand it, your beds flood in sequence, on a timer and by the end of the flood sequence, the water is flowing over the overflow.  Is this correct?
