Thanks for the tip. The pump is in the "shallow end" of the pond.

That's a beautiful water feature.  I have one suggestion.   Since things can and do go wrong, before you add fish I'd raise the pump high enough that if the pond were pumped out there would be enough water for the fish to survive.

It only takes one leak to drain a pond while you are not watching.
