First bit is to understand that the bottle has an air tube going down into it like one would do to make a gurgle garden where an air pump feeds down into a bottom container with a t and then a tube goes up to the plant container on top and the bubbles actually manage to gurgle or spit the water/nutrient solution up around the plant. I did these back when I did hydroponics. It is an inefficient take on the air lift way of pumping. Of course as the level in the bottle goes down, little if any nutrient gets lifted out of the bottle to dose into the pee ponic system.

So, I set up a wick to drip more water back into the bottle as the flood and drain wet about it's business.

Kinda sort of worked but not good enough long term for me to recommend it.

I don't have a clue what the wick thing is about. Can you clue me in?
