Thank you Alex!   We are going to cut the whole for the drain tomorrow - fingers crossed!  The wooden GB I had in my mind ended up way bigger (heavier) than I anticipated, but our plywood is 1/2" just for that reason.

Sigh, answering your question brought back good memories. It's been ages since I've actually built an aquaponic system from the ground up. I just maintain and maybe add to them from time to time :)

Yep, the beds are made of 5/8" plywood and 2"x4"s and then lined with a 45mm epdm pond liner. I drilled a hole through the plywood on the bottom with a hole saw, carefully cut an "x" in the liner where the hole was so that the flaps go down into the plywood and used a uniseal to make it watertight. I would say my plywood was a little too thick for my uniseal in that it made it more difficult to install it than if I had used a thinner plywood, but it worked just fine and I don't get any leakage.

Hi Alex!

I see your grow bed is wooden with a liner.  Is this correct?  If so, what did you use for your siphon plumbing to go through the bottom?

The normal male to female electrical bulkheads won't be thick enough for the bottom of our grow bed, so I was wondering if you used something different.  We bought a few things to try, but we may have to get pretty creative.
