Elizabeth, lose the chlorine filter, just add a water holding tank with aeration. It will degas that Chlorine right out. Make sure your lines from the rafts are larger than the inflow, so that they can drain quickly. The shower head will likely get clogged in the end too, so I'd loose that too. A packed column will do the same thing will less issues.

I just added a float valve (Grainger part # 6AMA7, $8.17) and an in-line chlorine filter, hooked up to municipal water, to keep the sump tank from running low because of evaporation. This is intended to help keep the water levels running on auto-pilot. I have one of these that I use to maintain a constant water level in a reservoir that I use to supply my chicken watering manifold. It works great and effectively isolates the watering system from the line pressure, which is about 90 psi at my house. This way I don't get any leaks in my plumbing joints.
