I used 3/4 pvc for the upper hoop. I leave the vertical portion open to all the bugs to come and go. The bad bugs are kept in check by mother nature or weekly dipel applications. The covers have saved me many hours of labor each week. I no longer have rotting leaves caused by rain, at the bottoms of the plants,  making a mess on my rafts. I used to have to scrub the rafts after harvest because of the rotting leaves.

Aloha Chris

Did you make the upper hoops of the green house out of pvc or more conduit.  I read your comment about your previous cover.  It is funny I built covers over mine because I saw yours.  Guess what I was invaded with white flies and aphids also.  In science it is a valid experiment if you can reproduce it.  I reproduced your result exactly.

The plastic cost $210 for a roll 20x100 here in Hawaii. It is likely much cheaper on the mainland. The roll is a little more than I need to cover 4 troughs that are 40' long. The rest of the materials cost about $200. In the end I will have close to 1000 square feet covered for less the $500.
