i cheaped out and used 3/4"...it was in stock. when i can, i will go to 2".

i use expanded shale in the seed beds, then fill will pea gravel when transplanting to the net pots.

i think pea gravel is too alkaline for seeds, i never had good results.

if you look close at the seed beds, i have some pea gravel mixed into the shale. this is only because the bottom of the beds have old gravel in the first four inches, then shale on the top two or so.

Rob what thickness or styrofoam are you using. Is that pea gravel for a media in your net pots. I didnt have any luck getting the pea gravel to germinate very well. Picking your brain for tricks.

mid September and the Lettuce trials are doing good.
