Please tell us something else about yourself.
my name is Omari Jaffe and i am from trinidad and tobago ( Caribbean )
for the past year i have embark on a journey to learn about growing plants naturally , soil science , recycling , healing herbs and now the journey has lead me to aquaponics. I first found about aquaponics on the tv in usa when i was living there. I saw a special on Will Allen, it was super inspiring. i like the concept of growing a lot in small spaces and even using vertical spaces also. I think the future of growing food is in an urban style by maximizing all spaces and reusing and recycle every and anything that can be use.
i was video surfing and i came across ( UFG Goes to INDIA!! - YouTube ) the Urban Experiment and i said to myself i could build system like in my country. So my gold is to learn and share from you guys and girls here on AP-HQ

the organic re-programing is now

    Welcome Omari!

Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community!  I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics.  There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions.  Everyone is quite happy to help out new members--no question is too basic.

A great place to start is to read the “How to Use This Site” link on the upper right corner, “Start Here” section of the Home page.  You might also find the “Aquaponic Gardening Rules of Thumb” guidelines helpful.

Please participate and check in with us every day!  We are constantly posting news about aquaponics and the good food movement.

Thanks again for joining us, and I look forward to getting to know you.

    Hi Omarie,

Yes i have a small battery powered aerator.........comes on with power failure. Also consider, If your FT has a large volume of water, say 1 lb fish to 12 gal water, fish can stay without O2 for approx. 4 hours. So 1 lb fish to 24 gal = 8 hours etc. If you have large system water volumes you won't necessarily need backup aeration. You can also design a simple paddle wheel to windmill system, or you can use all three solutions simultaneously. Enjoy the forums and if you have any questions you can pm me or call 788-4434.
