Hi Larry,

Sorry for the delayed response.  I have been traveling some and then was laid up with a bum shoulder.

Glad to hear they are all thriving!  Wow on the 48 degrees.  I thought 55 was their threshold on temps.  My 2 outside tanks made it as-low-as 57 degrees on one night when the breaker flipped.  Probably from so many heaters cycling on/off.

I'm slowly starting to get prepared for this season of breeding.  I have a few hundred that are reaching 5-6" and are definitely big enough for sexing out for breeding colonies. Because I'm so limited on space I do not plan on having as many fingerlings this year as last year but I may give away a few breeding colonies. Hopefully there will be many others that pay it forward.

Hello Sam,

The fish I got from you are all doing fine, they are 5" and starting to sex out. I put them in my greenhouse with enough heaters so that the temp stayed above 65 degrees. My big ones in my FT are well also even though the temp was at 48 in the tank for two days. They didn't spawn last year, well they may have because I have a good number of small bream in the tank they may have been lunch. The bream were a surprise I must of had a spawning of those guys.

Welcome Clair! I'm out of fingerlings for now but I hope you will find someone in the group that is willing to donate some starter fish to you.

@Jane - Sorry we are so far apart.  Anyone in the Sacramento area that can help Jane get going?

@Ken Richardson - I'm not set up to ship but we'll see what we can do next season.  Hopefully by next year there will be someone in your area willing to donate. I would love to see this group expand everywhere!  Those that receive, please pay it forward!

I believe I have missed your offer Sam, but I would like to get some from you this coming year. I lived in Az. so they will have to be shipped. Get with me on this when you have available. I would like to get as many as possible without taking from anyone else. Thanks, Ken

David, I'm in Central Florida it may go down to 20 degrees once or twice a year. My system is 100 gallons, if I need more heat I will add more heaters. How cold does it get you are? The city of Casselberry, Florida will not let me put a green house over my plants and fish because it can be seen from the street

Sam, The fish are doing fine in their new home. We will continue to work together to make aquaponics and your lawn better. It is truly unbelievable what you have accomplished in such a short time. Thanks for all your efforts towards providing fingerlings!

here in Tucson:

I believe, I prefer to be safe not sorry. So maybe I am over kill on heaters. I have 4 400 watt thor heaters from Amazon in my 100 gal tank for my 13 ladies and 2 males (hope for babies). I have 1.5 inch insulation on the sides and 1" insulation on the top. I have the heaters set at 83, my temp in the morning is at 83.
