Jim,
Kudos on getting started. the plants will need the fish waste to grow good. it will take two months after you have fish to see a balance. you have a great start. hang in there

I have been learning about aquaponics for more than a year. 5 months ago I took the leap and purchased 50 White Nile Tilapia small fingerlings, but 7 turned to a dark color. I seperated the dark from the white and white/red. Now I am interested in finding more of the iridesent blue/green. any have some they would like to get rid of?
thank you
Dave
Paul & Chris,
It was a pleasure meeting you both and I look forward to seeing some photos of how your systems come along.I definitely feel like I made a few new friends!
This week I was able to donate fingerlings to a local middle school where they have a wonderful aquaponics system set up...just needed fish! I was also able to donate some fingerlings today to Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando. They have a wonderful aquaculture setup with 2-700 gallon tanks and 2-800 gallon tanks along with a couple of huge bio wheels. The cool part is they are starting to build an aquaponics garden too!
i was lucky enough to take advantage of free fingerlings for begginners. i would like to thank SW for the Tillapia and tour of his work. I know some on here are probably into this to get affordable food, but if you can afford to give something, keep in mind that the parent fish and fingerlings do eat and it costs someone.
Of the fingerlings i picked up sunday, ALL are still alive and eating. :)
The best thanks i cand give Sam, is to make fingerlings available when mine start to breed. IT WILL happen. Thanks again.
