Just an FYI some quick costs. You wouldn't be buying a system from
Vertigro as you are not going Hydroponic. Each stack consists of
5 or more pots so 4 stacks of 5 pots is Retail costs $112 for 20 pots including shipping.
That is 80 plants.
I am hanging mine now but if you support them you could collect a bunch of different ways.
So wether you hang or support you will need 10 ft PVC qty of 2 of 1/2 schedule 40 and qty 2 of 3/4 in. schedule 20 (thin wall). This will be about $6.00 You cut them in half and you have 4 sets of the 1/2in inside the 3/4in.
Now if you hang them then all you need is some hangers and some
roto discs on the bottom with cotter pins to hold them. You can see pics of this on my Albums and group.
That should cost you about another $10-15.
Next is media. Here you can spend about $20-40 depending on what you use. I used med coir chips.
So 4 stacks of 5 pots will cost out at an estimated $150
Plus how you hang or support them.
Cost for plumbing will vary (sounds like a disclaimer) but I would estimate it at $30
You could go to 7 pots per stack and it would cost an estimated $5.60 pot more so at 4 more pots that would be $22. The same PVC will work up to 7 pots.
Then you would have 28 pots equalling 112 plants.
Realistic space is stacks at 36" apart. So 10 ft by 2.5 ft for the row. You can get a lot more efficient with space if you are hanging. So how do you get 112 plants in 25 square feet otherwise. 112 plants for an estimated $172 plus the hanging support.
Estimate a gravel bed for 112 plants that could be large heads of lettuce or pepper plants. By the way there are some cool vertigro vining solutions.
Here are some pics of hydroponic stacks at Vetigro that I have taken. There are some more impressive ones I could post also. remember you can click on the pic to see it better. You can also go to my albums to see more.
