Where are you going to put the loofah processing facility??? ;-)
So jealous :-)
God bless
I've actually sold probably as many dry/whole lufa as I have the processed ones so the lufa processing will probably never be as extensive as it was last summer. I just need to find a good place to dry and store whole lufa where they won't mold or get eaten by rodents.
Good Day TC,
You should sell your Louffa Sponges to the US Goverment. We use @ 100 spounges each quarter in the ship's Aux Boiler Plant, times that buy 14 ships minimum, and you can sell a whole bunch of sponges.
We just changed out a set and have ordered 100 more. And please remove the seeds, otherwise we will need to do it.

I'm not sure I can afford to see the lufa for as cheap as I'm sure the government would want to buy them, I wash them by hand ya know.
Ed,
what do you use the lufa for in the system? i was MM in USN and never heard of that

Lufa are not so much for use in the system but I have used them for cleaning things. So if you must know what I've found Lufa to be good for in a system, it would be using up a huge amount of nutrients during our overly hot summer when some things just don't grow at all. The lufa loves the hot summer as long as it gets plenty of moisture. Beware single Lufa vine can fill a 100 gallon stock tank bed completely with roots.
I do know that worms and BSF larva love eating lufa fruit and the sponges make pretty good worm bedding.
I'm still testing out other uses for the Lufa other than eating the little fruit and using the fiber from inside the mature fruit for cleaning and bathing sponges.
Good Day Marty,
Sorry about the delay, been at sea and working the ship.
As far as the Loofa Spounges, we use them to filter mircoscopic oil and dirt particles in our two 'Low Pressure Donkey Boilers'. It is supprising how much trash that we pick up in a closed loop system, mostly from the engine sump heaters and the lube oil and fuel oil purifiers.
