Quarantine systems and their problems

I've tried several quarantine systems and I've always had difficulty with them.  I think quarantine is always a good idea but so far I've had problems having a quarantine system that is cycled up to the load and big enough for the purpose.

Hopefully others can share what has worked well for them and I'll share some of what has not worked for me.  Much of this may well be very species and size dependent.
