Experiment to Extend Summer

Wednesday I uprooted my Tiny Tim tomatoe plant and transferred it to a glass bowl, hoping to continue a harvest of tomatoes. The small airstone is still in place to provide oxygen. Currently the guppies in this container were transferred to another fish tank. I added redworms today and will introduce new fish this weekend. All in all Tiny Tim seems to be doing fine.

I started my aquaponic journey December 2011. I am very near to cycling my first grow bed with fish (Bluegill). The siphon seems to be working fine, just needs a little tweeking. Anyone out there have any suggestions on sinking feed for catfish?

Any comments or suggestions appreciated?.

@Rochelle Hopkins - Bell Siphons can be touchy, but watch this if you ever need to fix yours.

If you have a Tractor Supply near you check out the fish food there. The prices are great.

Thanks Bob for the tip. Went to tractor supply in Woodland. Great price! My challenge is that the fish don't seem to care for it as far as I can tell. I don't know what to do. I'm really going to have to get my red wigglers to produce better if I want to keep up with feeding. Are Blue gills really that picky/

Sorry to hear that, It might just be the change, but make sure your water is testing clean of ammonia and nitrite. This too can cause a loss of appetite. I don't have blue gills,so maybe they are more picky.

Not sure why bluegills might not be eating. I've had good luck with farm-raised ones like yours that were trained on feed early.
