We had a great sailwing wind pumper at NAI called Big Red named after the sails.  I haven't found the NAI Quarterly that has the best information. Here are some links that may help.

Journal 5 has a few articles.   There was a book. I am looking for it.

There are a lot of online resources for Sailwing wind generators and pumpers. 

I will review some of them later.  Any way. The point is that there are other ways to pump water besides using electricity.  We also used it to do some power and some work was done to make ICE. I will see if I can resource that info also. Although this info is very dated it may drive us to some Current developments that may be useful.
