Chris Cates,
What you offer is very tempting. If only you were not two hours away. I am sure you will not have a problem finding a taker.
Folks, it's time for us to end this experiment with aquaponics. We intend to have another system one day but not here. So we would like someone to take these fish off our hands. We have about 30 cats we got from TCLynx about a year ago, some plate size, and about 15 Tilapia we got from a local grower, also some plate size. We've got about 3/4 of a bag of Aquamax 4000 that will go with the fish. The fish are free to a good home, with a good home being one that will eventually eat them. If you want other stuff like pumps, tons of gravel, tanks, etc we can talk about that. Right now I've got growbeds full of tomato plants that I've quit trimming. I'd like to discard all these plants and re-purpose the gravel but I don't want to lose all my filtration until I've lost all the fish, and while I could harvest the bigger fish I thought I'd leave them as incentive for someone to come get them. You will need some way to transport these fish. If you want the tank they're in that can be worked out, it's a 275g tote. You can contact me or Frank Cates for more info.
Thanks so much! Would love to see your blog.
@G Mo
I have Tilapia and the depth is no problem. I do have a mesh fence about a ft high around the perimeter to control jumpers. I also have a foam plug made from 2 sheets of insulation to minimize heat loss on cold winter nights. I am redesigning the plug/cover and will show it in my blog. It will allow solar heating as well.
I had considered that but wasn't sure the depth would suffice for Tilapia. What fish do you have in the vessel?
Looking for another fish tank (400 gal or more) here in north central FL. Anyone with one for sale?
Anybody looking for 2" net pots.......I can offer lots of 500 pots for $30.00.........plus freight, ,or you can pick up in Winter Park

As for getting the conditional species permits, they don't give them out for hobby growers. The operation has to be a business worth paying the $100 to get the Aquaculture permit and then you can apply for the conditional species permit if your facilities meet the requirements. I'm not sure what/if there are extra fees involved in getting the conditional species permits.
Might also be a bit different for a completely indoor set up that is breeding or a dealer for the aquarium trade but I don't think they would issue a permit for that for anything but blue tilapia since to sell anything else living to home growers in Florida is NOT legal.
