$3 isn't bad it just depends on the species, availability, supply and demand etc... Good fish information can be found on the regional aquaculture sites such as the NRAC site http://www.nrac.umd.edu/publications/factSheets.cfm#bpm

JD, Do you know where I can get more PDFs about species of fish? Also, you said that $3 per fingerling was expensive, what are some other prices I might expect for other fish?

We obtained yellow perch from aqua-sierra in Morrison, CO although they were not super thrilled to deal in such small quantities. They bring them down from Idaho I believe and I convinced them to sell me 125 fingerlings. They were expensive, around $3.00 a fish plus delivery for 2 to 3" fingerlings. Their grow out period is much longer than Tilapia, around 12 months, and they did not thrive as well as I thought they would. They were finicky eaters and had a rough start their first night when one guy got through the pump screen and jammed the pump thus cutting off circulation and air in the system. Anyway, attached is a good article on yellow perch Yellow%20Perch.pdf in recirculating aquaculture.

Good luck and let me know if you find some and how your system is going!

Hydro,

Thanks! That's an awesome resource. A few places in Colorado have Yellow Perch.

Tyler,
I haven't come across any local yellow perch breeders but here is a website of all registered aquaculture programs and their fish types: http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite/Agriculture-Main/CDAG/11848341... they should be able to be grown in Pueblo. Hopefully you find some soon!

Hi everyone. I'm starting my system down in Pueblo in the next couple of weeks. I am considering using Yellow Perch in my system. Does anyone know where I might get some fingerlings, and if anyone has raised this type of fish in our climate. They seem to relatively hardy. Would I need a permit for this species?

Thanks for any information you can provide!

My husband just declared that he has packed his LAST T5 light fixture and that we need to get out of the light fixture business.  Just too much of a pain to pack and ship.  SO, we'd like to offer up our last remaining 4' T5 fixtures for local pickup only for 30% off.  Here is a link to the category page, ...use code "T5sale" on checkout to get the 30% discount.  We only have 1 or 2 of each, so don't wait too long!

Thank you!
