I am designing an ap system in a partially buried GH. We live in the mountains above Colorado Springs -8.400ft. Temps -20 to 75 [rarely above 80]. I plan to grow trout with GBs a combination of  Media GBs and DWT GBs. I am planning on using the Media GBs to first cycle the FT water to remove fish solids, then pipe the effluent from the Media beds to the DWT GBs. Should I also have a BIO/solid filter between the Media GBs and the DWT GB?

McGuckins Hardware in Boulder is having a warehouse tent sale and I found this Hydrorock brand hydroponic clay pellets on sale for 25 cents for an 8 qt bag, usually $9.99. I thought any Boulder or front range locals might be interested in some cheap media for grow beds or using to amend clay soil or mix in with organic. Some bags seem to have been crushed up a bit, but could be washed and use the fine crushings to add to soil mix and use the good pellets for grow beds. Sale goes on through Sunday the 17th of May..

Hello, my name is Jesse I have two sons and a beautiful wife as my best friend! 16 years together, madly in love and two wonderful boys! Anyway, we are moving to Colorado soon and determined to build a mini farm as an exciting example of a family making a transition from the rat race to our own sustainable living dream. Our dream has been the same for the last 10 years. Now, our plan is beginning to take shape as we look for an ideal place to develop this month ( Oct. 2014 ). It has been an awesome journey as we have been across the entire U.S. lasting two years on the road now. We chose Colorado for sooo many good reasons. We spent last year in Colorado Springs surviving in our 22' bunkhouse camper. It was a lil rough but we survived!
I spent my year (2013) in Colorado Springs at a home improvement company as senior project manager. I can build and I have tools to build if any body wants to barter my labor for knowledge of aquaponics. I am 43 years this Oct.. Let's all build together! I would enjoy meeting all of you in Colorado soon!

Any one on the front range interested in some fry? I have 40-60 I'd like to find a home for. They're about 3 weeks old and growing fast!

Anne, you should check out the GrowHaus in Denver, and Sylvia's new business up in Longmont.  Those two are musts.

Hello Colorado aquaponic enthusiasts! I am in Portland, Oregon and a friend of mine will be visiting the Ft. Collins area next week. Where should I send him to see some either commercial or home systems? I know of a few places in Denver too, but if you have any ideas for the Denver/ Boulder area, please let me know! Thanks!
