I am sourcing a large quantity of expanded shale for my grow beds.  If anyone is interested in getting some, let me know.

I like the idea, but live in British Columbia. I'm curious where your sourcing from though. I researched that it's used as aggregate to lighten concrete. Are you getting it from a construction/concrete supplier?

Our distance makes it really expensive. I have found one place in Illonios that will ship me a tonne which will cost around $700 and I still haven't found out the cost of duties. There is another place in NY that said they have a client in buffalo that I might be able to connect with but I am still waiting on a return call. My plan is to rent a Uhaul and grab at least a few tonnes, if I am connected. At $700 a tonne it is only marginally cheaper than hydroton. I'm pretty sure I saw a link mentioning expanded shale in BC. If you do find it, your best bet is probably to go in on it with friends and pick it up yourself.

Darrin, there's a supplier in Vernon. Will handle up to 2000lb super bags.

Hi Cai, I'm in London Ontario, and might  be interested in some expanded shale at the right price. Let me know if you are still looking at this and if we can work out the logistics.........not sure where you are located.

Cheers
