I am wondering if beans will fix nitrogen in an aquaponics system in the same way they do in soil. If so, would this be measurable in some way or would it simply be added nitrate?

I read that you would like to use pickeral/walley for the fish in your system. My brother-inlaw went to lindsy college for aquaculture and he found a study that was done on pickeral. the findings were that it takes 12 generations of captive breeding before they stopped canibalising one another. Unfortunatly when they were done the study they destroied the fish. I am sorry I don't remember the name of that study and the only place that I know of to possably find it is at Sir Sanford Flemming college in Lindsy.
