Links and Resources

SOS Planet Public Library is a resource that Roger Pilon has brought to our attention.  He has offered to upload and add documents to this site so contact Roger Pilon to send him files for it or post them here and he can add them to the Library.

The name of the site is SOS Planet Public Library and the section dedicated to aquaponics is here at the  Aquaponics Section

On top of that, all the documents of the library have been indexed. This means that you can search for any words from within any documents.Let's say for example that you want to make a research about aquaponicsin Africa. What you will do is to type into the search box these towords aquaponics and Africa. What you will get is alist of all the documents that talks about aquaponics in Africa with, like Google, a brief description off each documents.

If you want to make a test you can go directly to the Search Engine at http://documents.ponics.org/research/my-search.php.

It has been brought to our attention that the above links are no longer functional but here is the update from Roger

This is just to update the link for the Public Library posted above (as I can't edit it). The new link is here: http://theplanetfixer.org/public-library/. There is a section dedicated to aquaponics...of course!. Around 100 documents in this particular section.

There is also a full text search database that you can consult: here at http://theplanetfixer.info/. Documents about aquaponics and more! Mostly sustainable documents!

This thread has many links to articles and other things of interest so I figured it should be accessible from here Aquaponics in Action USA

Eric, I've known Dr. Resh for years, and just recently corresponded with him when he endorsed my book.  Would you like me to put you in touch with him so you can ask him your question?

So, I'm reading this hydroponic book, Hydroponic Food Production by Howard M Resh (recommended), that I need my periodic table for  and I came across a farm  called Del Mar Farms near San Diego that "integrated aquaculture and hydroponics". I've tried searching them, so does anyone know anything about them? Sorry this was the only group I could think of that would be relevant to my question.

That's really neat - Ooo - makes me want to add floating raft beds to my system, just so I can do that. :)

Hi Chris,

Creative use for your roots. The roots are a good source of fiber and a high percentage of several nutrients. Raft growers should consider using this as a base for developing homemade fish feed since they acquire a large amount  of root mass on a monthly cycle.

What a great move. No waste and a natural compost process :-)

Before processing  rafts of lettuce I will float them in the fish tank for a while. The fish will eat the roots down to the net pots saving me the work of trimming  and gives the fish a snack. Letting the fish eat roots is recycling nutrients back into the system.
