Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

Those of us in this community who are Americans are celebrating a holiday called Thanksgiving this week.  It has been saddled with some bad press around the mistreatment of natives and over-indulging, but the notion of taking a day, or a week, out of our busy lives to gather with friends and family and give thanks for all that we have is an excellent exercise.

Because Thanksgiving is traditionally tied to the harvest, I think it is especially relevant to those of us in this community to consider all that this amazing growing technology of aquaponics has contributed to us personally.  I've written a blog post about my thoughts in the Aquaponic Gardening Blog that is scheduled for Thursday morning, but I wanted to see what the rest of you thought.

What has aquaponics given you that you are thankful for?

I'll start.

I'm so thankful for this community and for what all of you contribute to my aquaponics life. Starting this community site in February, 2010 was a nervous leap of faith. If I build it will they actually come? Slowly but surely you joined. At first one or two a week, then one or two a day, now three or four a day. The community is now at almost 600 members, and what a thoughtful, intelligent, passionate, funny group of visionaries you are! I learn so much from you every day, and am so fortunate to have you be a part of my daily aquaponics life. Thank you.
I'm thankful for a lot of things, and I'll share a few with you. First of all I'm thankful for my wife who's so patient with me and my crazy ideas (most of which turned out ok). I'm thankful for this website Sylvia where we all meet and share ideas, and for all the pioneers that have made it possible for some crazy guy up north in the snow to grow lettuce and goldfish after reading on the internet for... hours! (thanks again honey) I have a much bigger list but time is running out and I have to head out.
Namaste

Without asking, the Supreme Lord provides for for my needs...wishing one and all a very blessed, peaceful and Happy Thanksgiving. This is indeed one holiday that every culture celebrates in some way at some time during the year. Here's hoping that our friendship continues to grow stronger over time and that we truly become a world-wide "Aquaponic Family" and embrace this "way of life" :-)

God bless
Beautiful, Sahib.

Am new to Aquaponics...
I am eternally Thankful to god who has blessed us with the elements and the beauty of my garden and all the plants and beauty they bestow upon us. My family and I enjoy looking, tasting, smelling and seeing all the joys of the garden that each season brings and shows us in a never ending cycle, the circle of life!
Happy Thanksgiving to all, love Sandy.

:)
Aloha to all the aquapons on this site
I am thankful to God who sent me on this journey and who also keeps me on it. I am thankful that He sent me the two wonderful WWOOFers Mat and Caro just when my head was going under water. I am thankful that He has shown me what I am to do with it.(To show others how to do it at very little cost.) I may not be the most informed aquapon but it is my passion. I am thankful that you took the plunge Sylvia and started this site. It has helped me in so many ways. I always know if I have a question I can come her. Most of all it has shown me that I am not alone in my endevor.
Thank you Sylvia for being such a gracious host of the site and keeping us so informed as to what is going on. I send all the people that ask about aquaponics to this site. There is not a better site that I know of.
I am thankful that I live in beautiful Hawaii where my heart and soul belongs. I am so very thankful that I live in America where we are free to say these things. Where we can say that we have a God and not be executed for it. I am thankful for the days of poverty in my youth it only shows me how Great America is. It always has been and always will be as long as we participate in its functioning. God Bless this site. Keep it up Sylvia. God bless all the members of this site and God bless America.
Mahalo for a chance to express my thankfullness
