Anyone use filters in their AP systems? I'm using a chem/bio filter as a supplemental to my plants. I want to grow more fish then my plants can support.

Well I suspect that any raft system that still uses clairifiers and net tanks or extra bio-filters in addition to the surfaces in their raft tanks could be said to use filters or supplemental filters.

I did one have a sand filter hooked up (had it free and hooked it up before I knew better) but it has since been removed since the flow rate through it fluctuates and it needs regular backflushing.

I suppose Zip grow towers could be counted as supplemental filtration with added supplemental plant space to boot.

I was using a filter in my setup until last week.  My flood and drain GB has been tied into the system for a while now, supplemented by filter squeezings to get the bacteria bump started.  Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings have stayed in the green.  Filter was a pain in my behind, but it was a home made emergency ghetto thing.  Glad to disconnect it.

I would say build another grow bed if you can.
