I have about 50 tilapia fingerlings in my tank and I want to start transitioning them to larger food. Right now they all hang out on the bottom of the tank and the crumble sinks down to them. When I have put in a little of the new food, which floats on top, they don't come up to get it. Is it better to just start feeding new food? Or mix them?
Tilapia fingerlings will eat large pellet. Put the food and leave it, cover the tank if it is not already, when they are hungry they'll come up top top and nibble at it until its all gone. When they acclimatize to the tank and to you they become less skittish, more relaxed and feed more leisurely.
