Hi all, brand new to this, so sorry if this is a silly question. We are designing our first system. I have read Sylvia's book (wonderful source) but am still unclear. I have scoured the internet as well. It is very important to us to raise edible fish as well as produce. It appears to me that having a seperate fish tank, not a sump, for your fish is much more successful.
Any thoughts?

Thanks Bart!
There are no silly questions. No matter which system you go with I would start with some cheap, hardy, easy to acquire fish like gold fish and go for it. once you've developed your system and you're comfortable with the set up then out your eating fish in.
Well, with gold fish, you gotta be careful. Especially when it comes to feeder goldfish, those guys can introduce all sorts of nasty stuff in your system. Getting your fish from a reputable source is usually a good idea.
