IBC totes ?

Ok I am now living in Lincoln,NE and they have hard water here. The water sotfening biz is big. I cannot locate food grade IBC totes locally, but can get a hold of totes that contained water softener previously. My question is can I repurpose or recondition these totes for AP application?

What sort of water softener?

If you know what the totes contained exactly, you can look it up and figure out if you feel comfortable using it for an AP system.

I know many water softeners use salt or potassium chloride. those seem safe enough to me, you just need to make sure there were no other chemicals that would be detrimental that won't rinse out completely.
