Hello Friends, first of all i want to introduce myself. my name is Ben, Im from Austria and study Tropical Agriculture in Bangkok/Thailand. Im happy that i found this Forum, already got many information for my project at University. I have a question about this growbed.....does anyone know how to build this growbed, I still couldnt figure out how you can make this waterproof. For information i would be very glad..

Thanks Kobus, yeah you are right. thats what i thought too, about long term and rost. the reason why i asked this was because if you read or see pictures of growbed, you can see lots of systems like this. so i thought it must be one of the best ways how to make growbeds like this. i guess i will start to build grwobeds by myself with fibreglass..... :D
If those are the grow beds I'm thinking of, they are aqualined on the inside to make them safe for fish and keep them from rusting from water contact on the inside. (The aqualining is some sort of coating.)

You are right to be cautious about using galvanized metal in water contact in an aquaponics system since the zinc can reach toxic levels for fish fairly quickly depending on the pH and the type of fish.
