Grape vines in AP

Has anyone tried growing grapevines in an aquaponic system?

I've heard of a few people in OZ trying it but I don't know if any have been planted long enough to really have any comments on production yet.

I have a friend of mine willing to get me some vines out of a production vineyard. I have been wanting to try this but was unsure if they would survive in an AP system. I hate to kill his vine since they are not that easy to come by.

Tom I have a vine in mine and it has been struggling. I would plant it in soil and take a cutting and try it. My ph is a little high as well and hope to fix that when I swap out gravel. Good luck.

I see no problem with a perennial other than the fact that soilless culture is traditionally suited to quick crop production. But, you're not in a commercial business, so you could have  stopped reading at the first four words.

I think one of the problems is grapes prefer a dry soil inbetween waterings. Might be too much water for them.

Probably an oxygen issue, though.

What if I were to flood the bed less often. Think that would help? I could also provide more aeration for that grow bed.
