Hello Aquapons!!,
When the time is right for me, I will need tilapia. Can anyone suggest a good east coast seller of tilapia.
Thanks People!! May your compost be active and your vegetables grow amazingly!!!!

Your main problem will be getting a permit.Because it will be imposible given the state you have listed on your profile, ME, according to this source http://3x5aquaponics.blogspot.com/2010/11/tilapia-legal-in-your-tow...
"So far, the only states that appear to prohibit tilapia entirely are Utah (0.9% of the US population), Nevada (0.8% of the US population), and Maine (0.4% of the US population). Utah and Nevada make a big point of prohibiting tilapia. Maine merely fails to list tilapia as one of the myriad species allowed (and all not on the list are prohibited)."
Maybe you can call your local fish and wildlife to see if you can get a "special" permit. Good luck!

Worked in lobster distribution for seven years and yes there is plenty for the fish and game officers to do. Tilapia wouldn't survive a winter here as far as being invasive. My goal for aquaponics is large. Full scale greenhouse complex incorperating on site fresh market and cafe, community banquet hall and education center and on and on. I am working with very little resources and slowly building a dream to be an early new age farmer.
