Can you tell me whether it is a hazard in any way to use steel rebar for stakes in a grow bed? I have a supply on hand and would like to use it, if feasible. I could also drive them in the ground outside the grow beds, if necessary.
Has anyone tried living shade over grow beds?
If nothing else, beans might be a good option for shading the fish tank.
Direct sun and hot summer temps are tough on plants.

If you are going to use the rebar keep it out of the system. the rebar will last longer and rust less. using the plants as a cover for your fish tank sounds good if it is a small tank but if it is bigger that 4x4 them you have to think about reaching the plant for pruning and harvesting.
It's a definite plan for 2015 to shade some of the beds and the fish tank with living vines, possibly beans, but maybe some other vine which produces food.
Any suggestions for a heat tolerant vine, for use as shade? The intent is to produce overhead shade, with the beds continuing to receive indirect and maybe some dappled direct light.
you could use grape vines the love heat and water to a point. I have seen certain types of cucumber and squashes.
