That sounds wonderful!  Since you've found Tom Knoll, could you edit the event description to reflect that?  It still says Speaker TBA for "Aquaponics as a Social Enterprise."

See you this September!

Wow...what a great summer you are having, Melissa!  I'm thrilled that you will be capping it off with us at the conference and we will certainly keep you in mind as a backup speaker.  I actually have Muhammad Yunus's "Social Business" on my Kindle because it came highly recommended to me by Tom Knoll, who is speaking at the conference!

Looks great!  I can't wait.  My registration should arrive in the next week or so.  This will be the conclusion to a summer full of aquaponics for me - an internship converting an aquaculture farm to aquaponics and permaculture, and then several weeks in Ghana, where I'm involved in a micro-enterprise project growing, teaching, and spreading aquaponics in Accra.  Community members will come to our pilot farm - currently under construction - to learn aquaponics and basic business skills, and we'll provide them the materials for a small farm, and a constant stream of supplies over time, and guaranteed markets for all the produce they want to sell.  It'll be like Muhammad Yunus's "Social Business" model - enterprises that make enough profit to sustain themselves and provide incentive, but with the first priority being greater social good, like healthy, local, sustainable, aquaponically grown food!  Win win win!

I'll be coming directly from that to this conference.  So I wonder - do you still need a speaker for "Aquaponics as a Social Enterprise"?  Because I'd be interested, and I'd have recent, relevant experience.

I am totally excited for the opportunity to meet in person all the aqua folks that I have been learning from via the internet posts, videos and discussions. This is an awesome sharing community.

Hi Nigel,  thanks for the suggestion!  We will be looking into this and we will let you know how we can get you registered as soon as we can.   ;)

Hi Sylvia,

I would want to suggest that the registration form be altered to allow persons like myself who are coming from outside the US to be able to register. :) I would like to attend.
