Thanks Nigel. I paticipated in the green acreas aquaponics course. They recommended a water temperature of 23 C for growing lettuce. I've been researching how to get my water temperature from 29 C to 23 C cheaply. No luck yet. The maintain a low temperature they put 1/2 dow blue board on the side of the throughs, but I cannot find thematerial here. But if I do not have to lower the temperature I do not need that material. What do you use?
To connect the throughs they use toilet flanges at the bottom. I see you connect the throughs from the sides. What do you use. I cannot find 3" pvc pipes sched 40 here.
I just ordered different lettuce seeds from Johnny's. I choose the ones that are heat resistance to see how they do in this heat. What seeds do you use and from where do you get them?
Hi Nigel. I'm from Curacao, also in the Caribbean. I went to the course at greenacres earlier this year. I have already build a backyard system and are experimenting with it. I'm planning a larger commercial unit now but having difficulties finding apropriate materials here. Maybe you can share how you get all your materil down there? Do you have problems with the temperature of the water for growing lettuce?
Nigel, sorry it took so long... I am set up now and trying to get it running, I will call you soon....

Nigel it was very good to meet you at the conferance allso was glad to meet your son at the training at ginas, was good to talk with and here about your system and your island.allso if you are able to scan the training manual to your computer would love to get an email or download thanks and keep in touch JOHN T,
How did you determine how many fish to add to your system since you have xx amount of gallons in your tank and you also have water in your raft system. Is the water in the raft system part of the calculation?

Nigel,
Sorry to hear about your mishap. Hope you get some new fish soon and move ahead.
I'll be sure to check my okra roots, when I remove them.
