Agreed, although the pond my dad made us was stream fed and did have fish and was amazing for swimming but it was also about 3 times this size. Flow certainly makes a big difference. These ponds would not work well with fish. Smaller critters, yes.

The key to these is low to no nutrients. Notice that these aren't fish ponds, so there isn't any significant source of nitrogen/phosphorus for algae to go wild on.

Hi Pat, I don't think combining the 2 would work all that well I would consider the pool to be a pool. I am personally building one that is stream fed. It would be mighty hard to convert a conventional pool to one of these. I grew up with a pond along these lines and we loved it. No maintenance!

Love the idea, but it hasn't worked for me. My fish enjoy the pool but it is a little too dark and full of algae for my tastes....
