I used Pink board, same stuff as Dow blueboard 1.5" thick, Lettuce is several varieties of romaine, Lolla rossa, Two Star, Multigreen, Buttercrunch and Dancine.
Bob, Raft is U shaped 120 x 8 ft takes up 2000 sq/ft of space. At the time this photo was taken I was pumping 80 gal/min. into the near side, it flows down and back then drains out also at this end. I now have 2 of these rafts going, pumping about 140 gals/min. 10,600 gals of tank water and approx. 7200 Talapia and 3000 bluegills. If I had to guess I currently have about 8000 lbs of fish in my system but I need to harvest some soon. As far as filtration I have 2 1500 gal clarifiers before the water goes through several filters totaling 2500 gals.
These beds look to be about 100ft x 4ft. are they in parallel?
How much water are you pumping?
Approximately how many fish (pounds or inches) supply the nutrients?
I like the way you built the rafts - very clean!
How much additional bio-filtration do you have?
Sorry for all the questions, but when I see something I like I want to learn from it.
Good to know , how long from seed to finished lettuce ? And if you don't mind telling me what variety lettuce? and what is the actual raft made of blue board or ?
I framed these out with treated lumber then used a food grade vinyl liner. cost is about $.40 sq/ft. This photo was taken in February of this year.
what do you use for rafts
looks great, how long has the finished lettuce been in the system
