"I bought an air pump at Academy Sporting goods. It works off batteries or the car dc plug. Turned out when I got to the fish supplier, the fish were put in oxygen filled bags and my pump was left unused. And the trip home was a couple hours drive."

"I use a Lifeguard Products, Quite One pump which has pumped some 8500 hours with off and on phases in the 52,000 range during that period.  No problems.  Pump curves showing volume at various heights are available for these pumps. …"

"I have a 475gph statuary filterless pump from Tetra, it is good up to 5ft verticle, claims 7 but was pretty weak unless you reduce the feed line to 1/2".  The run about $40-$50"

Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community!  I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics.  There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions.  Everyone is quite happy to help out new members--no question is too basic. 

 

A great place to start is to read the “How to Use This Site” link on the upper right corner, “Start Here” section of the Home page.  You might also find the “Aquaponic Gardening Rules of Thumb” guidelines helpful.
