I have some of the best looking strawberries that I have ever seen, but the taste is just not right. You taste the outside and it sweet, but when you take a bite they taste very watery. Why would…Continue

I am trying to get a system going. My wife is a middle school science teacher and I have been in sales and I started and ran a non-profit organization for 5 years. I had health problems and had to stop. I am now in a wheelchair and I am working hard to find ways to garden that people with disabilities can work at. Aquaponics I am convinced is the answer. I am looking for hands on training that will get me started. I am a member of the Hanover County Master Gardener Association. We are starting a program at the Veterans Hospital here in Richmond. There are not anyone close to me with a system and it is frustrating, so I feel I need to get it going for this area and when it is set up and we have run it for a couple years we would like to start an education program for the Mid-Atlantic part of the country. If you can recommend the best places to get a great training program that will get the information to start.

Jeffrey, I'd also like to ask your permission to quote some of what you said in your introduction here in a presentation I'm giving at Sweet Water Organics in a couple weeks on Aquaponics in Education, Inspiration and Community Building.  Let me know if you are comfortable with that.

Jeffrey, I'd like to invite you to post a forum topic talking about the kind of help you are looking for.  You might also want to do some searches of the Member page (see tabs above) to see if you can find anyone near you.  I'd also like to offer to help you out as I can, short of actually being physically present there (I'm in Colorado....otherwise I'd be there in a minute).  My grandmother was in a wheelchair the entire time I knew her and I am very drawn to the benefits of aquaponic gardening for people with disabilities.

Welcome Jeffrey,
Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community!  I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics.  There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions.  Everyone is quite happy to help out new members – no question is too basic.
A great place to start is to read the “How to Use This Site” link on the upper right corner, “Start Here” section of the Main page.  You might also find the “Aquaponic Gardening Rules of Thumb” guidelines helpful.
Please participate and check in with us every day!  We are constantly posting news about aquaponics and the good food movement.
Thanks again for joining us, and I look forward to getting to know you.
