Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

Hello Everyone, has anyone encountered tiny little insects living in your clay pebbles in your aquaponic grow bed? I have a an insect problem in my grow beds and I believe there are tiny little aphids and a kind of jumping little white insect that hide in the crevices of the clay pebbles. How do I get rid of them, should I clean my clay pebbles with hydrogen peroxide? I set up this grow bed about a year ago, I don't have a sump tank or a bio-filter, I think this might be the reason why I have the pest in my grow beds. Does anyone have any wisdom they can share with me?

The water level seems really high.  You should have enough media in the beds so that the water does not sit on top.  The top inch or two of your media should never be wet.
