Thanks...I will check on it. I suppose raising koi could result in a few bucks if surplus?

Since I am not raising fish for consumption, then I started with goldfish and now moving onto koi.  They are tolerant of cold, heat and lower quality water.  These type of fish are especially good for new systems, since the bacteria is not established.  Look at the youtube channel BrightAgrotechLLC's, they recently put up a video all about fish in AP.

My water temp is already at 70 degrees. How are other folks temps doing? Should I think about some other type fish, like catfish instead? Where would I get them? Same place as your tilapia suggestion? I am growing the fish more for plants than eating.

Keep in mind tilapia strive with warmer water temperatures. Temps below 80 degrees will have a impact on their growth rate and below 55 will be detrimental to their health. Dr. Brooks or Mark are best to elaborate on that but if your system is outside with little to no insulation then you will need to heat the water in the tank during our cooler season.

Phoenix Tropical Fish stocks fingerling Tilapia.  You can buy by the each with no shipping charge.  Friendly and helpful owner.  Call to see if any are available.  They get regular deliveries and can special order.  Blue Tilapia is what I've seen there most of the time.  Check out their web site for directions and phone number - www.phoenixtropicalfishinc.com   I think there are a lot of advantages dealing with a professional retail store.

Since it is getting cooler, I think I will finally attempt some tilapia. Does anyone have any fry now, who is inthecentral phx area? I don't want to transport them too far. And maybe pick up onthursday or Friday?or could do Saturday also. I have been down for over a week with major foot surgery, and still not up and about yet. Also, it seems there are hardly any fish in my tank, although I have not seen one floater! What's up with that?!

Does anyone have catfish in their ap system or will you swap out your tilapia for catfish for our cooler season? I know some of the folks in Tucson use catfish like @Local Roots & Tucson Aquaponics. I'm curious to hear from our Phoenix metro area neighbors.

I'm definitely not feeding mine enough but all my system can stand right now. Making big changes in October to grow fish faster and more plants.
