Hi everyone, I have been out of the loop for a bit now.  I have relocated to the Oregon coast, and starting a new business that I hope will finance my creative endeavors in gardening, aquaculture, alternative fuels/energy and aquaponics.  I think I will be able to get a greenhouse up in my new location in the next year or so.  The distillery has required my full attention and resources to complete. Once I have my local, state, and federal permits in place I will be able to secure a relatively consistant income again.

I have been working on some interesting ideas related to this group and subject though.  A Bio-digester for the processing of spent distillery waste which will produce methane for heating and an organic fertilizer.  Waste heat generated by the distillery will be used to heat the greenhouse, and a few other things, etc.

I am glad to see there is still some activity here and look forward to exchanging ideas again.

@Lance,

It is good to see Friendly back up and running.  Seems they have a good system going there.  Thanks for the tip, I will be following them now.

HI Jim,

I'm in Portland and so are a few others.  Most of the other people on this list seem to be in Washington state.  What brings you to Oregon.  I imagine it will take a while for your blood to thicken and not be cold.

Did you do aquaponics in Maui?  I look forward to further conversations.

fter growing up and 43 years in Maui, I am moving to Grants Pass Oregon around June. Just curious who does aquaponics in the vicinity?

Hey Pam are you following Friendly Aquaponics? They have just posted a series of newsletters detailing their vertical system which you might be interested in.

If we had a way to build one of these in Portland Oregon would anyone like to be on the team that fills it with aquaponics?

It will take a few years to get the funding ready and collect people who want to do it but I really want to see this happen near me.

So anybody in?

Can anyone tell me where to get some hybrid tilapia. The kind where I will have mostly males? I can take about 50 fingerlings or will take less if they are a little bigger. I have two 120 gal tanks.
Appreciate any guidance or tips.
Thanks
