I had the size on my tote wrong.  It's a 275 gallon tote with part of the top cut off.  So I should have more than enough water for this system.  Just the picture is wrong.

How do you maintain the proper temperature in your system?

The general ratio from the research I have read is that you can use 1-3 cubic feet of gravel growbed for each cubic feet of water in the fish tank.  Or it's also easy to do it in gallons.  So two gallons of grow bed for every gallon of fish tank.  I have 4.5, 55 gallon barrels which comes out to 247.5 gallons of grow bed.  I have a 125 gallon tote.  I'll probably only fill it up with 100 gallons, but I'm still within the ratio.

That is also an older picture.  I never rendered the proper tote in the design.  Maybe in future revisions I'll use a larger tote.

Sorry

first thing I see is where is all the water coming from for your grow-beds?

Looks great but need more fish tanks.

Hi,

I'm trying to put together several 'Aquaponics Modules' which are adapted to the Phoenix environment.  I would love any help.

I'm starting with a 10ft by 10ft portable greenhouse.  I sized it to put 9, half barrels (55 gallon plastic drums) along three walls and squeeze a 125 gallon tote in for the fish tank.  Below is the general layout.  The grey thing was replaced by a tote.

I'm building the frames out of rebar, but I don't really like how they are coming and I might change to wood.

I'd like to put this all together in a nice, how-to document.  Would any of you like to help me?

If you're looking for Tilapia, Ken, and if the planets align right, we'll have fish ready at the same time you're system is ready and the same time you have a tank/tanks available and the same time we are able to take a trip to our place in Snowflake w/our truck. :)

I sometimes run across 300 gal totes for around $75 in my area (St Johns) and have 3 for water supply. When I find some I will let everyone know. If there are several that want them could maybe get better price to buy all at one time. I will need fish as soon as they are available. Can use up to 4-500 fish. I have a 650 gal tank to get up and running.
