With national and global headlines screaming
drought,
rising food prices, and even a
shortage of farmers, our recently announced aquaponics CSA couldn't be more timely. But time is something that we don't have a lot of. We have 13 days before our
Kickstarter campaign deadline ends, and if we don't reach our funding goal, we don't get to bring this amazing food growing system to Portland. Can you help?
The Aquaponic Integrated Food Energy and Water System (IFEWS) is what Portland Purple Water has been shooting for for the past 4.5 years (and arguably longer, as our experience in the world of industrial food production put us firmly on the path toward finding sustainable solutions), and we're excited to not only bring it to Portland, but to change the way we grow our food. We've found a truly sustainable way to grow healthy, nutritious food, and now we need you.
With the hope that it lays out, I guarantee that it will stir your heart (I've cried at least four times watching it... and I WORKED ON IT!)
Then if you have a couple more minutes, choose your favorite
reward and pledge to help bring the IFEWS to Portland. There's an array of choices - from thank you cards, to rainbarrels, to your very own CSA share (an extremely hard thing to come by anymore as CSA shares quickly sell out and waiting lists can be years long).
Finally, share, promote, and shout-from-the-rooftops to your network(s) about this project. If you're new to Kickstarter, it's a crowdsourcing platform that helps small businesses and individuals get their projects off the ground. We get the funding only if we reach our goal by the deadline (August 6th). Likewise, your pledge won't be taken (nor your reward received) unless we reach our goal. Crowdsourcing only works when we get a crowd behind us as the donations really add up. Many hands make light work... err, many hands break the death grip the industrial food complex has on us.
