I have not found a reliable method to know when the siphon has triggered. My concern is the variability of the pump. If I use a timed sequencer, the likelihood of a filled, but not emptied growbed seems very real. If I use a volumetric sequencer, I am concerned that they are only grossly calibrated.

Cool video. Thanks for posting. I've just started looking around to see what control systems are being used. Do you plan to automate pH management in this system?
