Hi Halemart,

Thanks for the dishwasher suggestion, they do have a lot of uses after they die. I have to tell you of my adventure when I was 16, my dad left me alone with the station wagon. I decided to go on the fishing trip to Sebastian Inlet with a bottle of Old Forrester 101 proof. Me and my buddy got drunk at Sebastian Inlet, some old timers escorted us off the pier. We had no plan as to where we would stay for the night, we headed up A1A turned towards the inter-coastal down a skinny dirt road hearing the Palmettos scratch my Dads pride and joy. We stopped when we saw water, we pulled the aluminum boat out of the back (we definitely came prepared) climbed in and passed...I mean fell asleep. I woke in the morning hearing a water running, looking out I realized we were parked next to an artisan well flowing into the inter-coastal. We went and collected oysters and clams, we used the top rack of a dishwasher flipped upside down to set the oysters and clams on over a fire we built to steam them open!!! MMMMM!!!

Back to aeroaquaponics, I am using a biofilter/clarifier before the effluent (Fish Water) goes into the spray portion of the system. Within the bio filter I manage the fish poopy letting it breakdown (Mineralization) to provide nutrients to the plants. So there is no solids in the water stream.

The issue I am having is pressure. The pond pump doesn't have much pressure. I don't want to increase the pressure because it will result in an increase of power consumption. Just drilling small holes in the pipe is very cost effective while managing the flow rate and pressure issues. I have found that when the streams of water hit the wall of the towers or anything else they disperse into smaller droplets allowing for a larger dispersal of nutrients.

I am definatly interested in exploring ways to spray the water in an areoponic system. I believe the reason that more people have not explored AeroAquaponics is because the ready made systems are so expensive. I have run huge systems (over 100,000) gallons deep water culture, NFT of every type, ebb and flow, flood and drain, mixed media, bla bla blue.

I am going after the "Less is More" aeroaquaponics answers a lot of issues. I do not use any aeration, I don't need it,  no media. All I have to do is manage my poopy!!!

I hope we can meet soon, I'm just outside Orlando let me know when you are coming through this area!!! I REALLY like that you are a thinker and not afraid to share your suggestions!!! You can call me I like to brainstorm. Patrick (407) 844-4243

It just hit me later today that an old dishwasher might just be the ticket with the jet that sprays at the bottom.   the holes are big, and might let the solids thru from the fish.

I'll try a few different sprinklers! Thanks!

Very kool,   I am thinking that a garden sprinkler ( off garden hose ) might give you more coverage.     Thanks for sharing!
