You are correct, they are really the same style siphon's with minor differences. When I first setup our system I played with different siphon variables to get the most effective and trouble free siphon. Looking back, the only major variable for getting a consistent siphon action was using just the right amount back flow on the drain pipes to balance the volume coming from the siphons.
