This is the end of our aquaponic grown banana tree. It was pretty amazing how fast it grew, but it just got too big for our greenhouse.

As a teenager, I lived in Tallahassee, FL, and our house had a banana tree (planted by former owners). It never produced fruit while we lived there.  One year, I did some yard work and cut the banana tree down rather severely as it was crowding the gutters and roof.  The next year, it grew like crazy, bloomed and set fruit!!!  Unfortunately, we moved prior to the maturation of the fruit.  I'm sorry you dug up your tree, cutting it might have been a good solution to both tame its growth and spur it to bear fruit.

I've been planning to plant a mango tree but had no idea they get so large!! Does anyone know if pruning it would work??
