Many people think that you can't grow carrots in an AP system. I've been growing them for a few years now. They may be ugly, but they taste great!!!

I do radish too but no one in my family really likes them except the guinea pig. ;-) I've had some luck with beets too.
it would be very cheap since we're located in CT. You could come here and pick some up, or I frequently drive to Holliston and you could buy some "off the back of my truck". ;-) Send me a private message and we can arrange something!
awesome video. hydroton prices are killing me, thinking about going the shale route. what would shipping prices be like to the boston area?
"...not over water them."
Very True. This is why I had introduced re-circulating wicking beds with manual valves. That way, I could control how much and how often to water. I am going to be trying to grow Olive Trees in a couple of months. They do like to have a dry period every now and then.
God bless :-)
I think the key is to not over water them. My next batch I will probably try just once a day...maybe even every other day. I've also been experimenting with onions....I'm finding that the less water, the better. ;-)
Good to know. I’d read carrots are an AP no-go. Thanks for posting the vid. So the guinea pig’s name is “Carrot Top?” lol
Thank you for sharing ;-)
I have successfully grown Indian Mooli and Diakon radish for over a year and half in my media beds and love the fact that we eat the complete vegetables. I love seeing that you have use for the carrot tops...your pets certainly seems to be having a feast :-)
God bless,
